"You're an a--hole @govpenceIN," begins pop superstar Miley Cyrus's strongly-worded Instagram post slamming the Indiana governor for signing a controversial religious freedom bill into law Thursday.

The "Wrecking Ball" singer also bashes politicians in general, exclaiming, "the only place that has more idiots than Instagram is in politics,"  and expresses support for LGBT equality, saying, "We need more strong heterosexual men fighting for equality in both men and women!"

Cyrus joins a slew of notable figures speaking out against to the new law, which, supporters say protects religious beliefs from government intrusion, while opponents claim it sanctions discrimination, particularly against LGBT people.

Business leaders including Max Levchin, the cofounder of PayPal, CEO of Affirm and chairman of Yelp, and Mark Emmert, president of the NCAA -- whose Men’s Final Four is scheduled to take place in Indianapolis next week -- have also expressed concern about the potential impact of the new measure. And the list of celebrities who have taken to social media to speak out on the issue is growing rapidly.
