Ask the candidate: Eloise Gomez Reyes

A candidate for California's 31st congressional district, Eloise Gomez Reyes is now taking msnbc reader questions.

Eloise Gomez Reyes, the underdog Democratic candidate for the 31st Congressional District in Colton, Calif., is taking reader questions.

Reyes, a 58-year-old labor lawyer who grew up in the town, is considered the more progressive alternative to the 34-year-old mayor of nearby Redlands, Calif., Pete Aguilar.

An early endorsement from Emily’s List helped Reyes, who is pro-choice, raise $302,000 in the last quarter of 2013. A daughter of Mexican immigrants whose first language was Spanish, Reyes has promised to push back on proposed Social Security cuts, reform immigration, and fight for low-wage workers, reported msnbc’s Irin Carmon.

To get started asking the candidate questions just join the Women 2014 group and leave your question in the comments. The Reyes campaign will take questions through Wednesday, March 19. Please remember to remain respectful and follow our msnbc Community Rules.
