It’s not often that the leader of the free world gives a speech that so strongly resembles a summer radio hit, but President Obama's remarks Wednesday night sound like a political twist on MAGIC!’s summer smash, "Rude."
“Stop being mad all the time,” the president said of the GOP at a Kansas City event with a laugh. “Stop just hatin’ all the time. Let’s get some work done.”
With a catchy melody, it might just be the next "why you gotta be so rude?"
The president's speech came just hours ahead of a party-line vote in the House of Representatives, where 225 Republicans voted to sue the president for the first time in history. The suit, prompted by House Speaker John Boehner, accuses the president of abusing his power by changing the implementation of Obamacare.
“They have announced that they are going to sue me for taking executive actions to help people,” he said. “They’re mad because I’m doing my job.”
He derided the vote as a waste of taxpayer dollars, deriding Republicans for wasting time voting repeatedly to repeal or alter Obamacare instead of tackling other issues.
“That’s what they’re spending time on—a political stunt that wastes America’s time and taxpayer dollars," Obama said earlier in the month.
House Republican Rep. Paul Ryan responded to the criticism in an interview that aired Thursday morning, saying the House was indeed productive—more so than the Senate “who do nothing.”
