MSNBC presents 'Story of Cool' executive produced by LL Cool J

MSNBC and executive producer LL Cool J present “Story of Cool,” a three-part docuseries on the evolution of "cool". The first episode airs 7/1 9pm ET on MSNBC.

MSNBC and executive producer LL Cool J present Story of Cool, a three-part docuseries. The first hour-long episode airs on Sunday, July 1 at 9 p.m. ET on MSNBC.

Story of Cool takes a look back at what Americans have considered “cool” throughout the decades and examines the people, places, and things that define this ubiquitous, amorphous word. Each episode explores a new element of “cool” - the rise of prominent leaders, product advertisements, and how the battle for “cool” has the power to create rivalries and elevate cultural icons that shape the world.

Over the course of the series, Story of Cool will feature interviews with special guests including Ice Cube, James Corden, DMC, Kierna Mayo, Shepard Fairey, Maverick Carter, Malcolm Gladwell and more to help discern the origin of “cool.”

The first episode, Cool in Charge, airs Sunday, July 1 at 9 p.m. ET followed by Cool for Sale on Sunday, July 8 and Cool Rivalries on Sunday, July 15. 

Story of Cool is produced by Part2 Pictures, Getty Images, and LL COOL J Inc.  The series was created by Jonathan Gruber and Tom Cohen. Executive producers include LL Cool J, David Shadrack Smith and Amy Bucher for Part2, Gene Foca for Getty Images, Jonathan Gruber and Tom Cohen.
